Women’s Rights Online: Translating Access into Empowerment

This report explores the gender gap in Internet use in nine cities in developing countries. It highlights extreme inequalities in digital empowerment, reflecting disparities in civic and economic participation. Women are 50% less likely to be connected than men with similar levels of education and income. Education and age are the main drivers of the gender gap. Affordable access and ICT training are crucial. The report offers recommendations to close the gender gap and improve female online access and participation.
