HERMES is a Rhizomatica project that brings communication to communities without access to telephony or internet, through a digital HF radio system. HERMES is focused on the Amazon rain forest and its connectivity and communication challenges. In 2021 and 2022, we built 3 digital radio networks in the Amazon in Ecuador and Brazil that facilitate long distance communication to urban centers, promoting general organization among communities and increased possibilities for land and resource stewardship as well as an important tool in cases of medical emergencies or attacks against human and land rights.
