The increasing demand on rural internet towers due to remote work, learning, and population growth has led to tower congestion and \’stop sell\’ situations. This hampers work, education, and connectivity. Initially, 70 rural towers were upgraded during Covid-19 lockdown to ease congestion, with subsequent funding securing ~$90m for capacity upgrades. These include various technologies like Fibre-to-the-Home, VDSL/Copper, 4G/5G Mobile Broadband, and Fixed Wireless Broadband to cater to different areas’ needs.
