This paper explores the concept of Community Interest Media (CIM) and its relationship with community networks and community-centred connectivity initiatives. Drawing on experiences from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, it examines how communities are using digital infrastructure and participatory media practices to strengthen local communication, digital inclusion, and self-determination. Through a discussion of guiding principles and eight case studies, the paper highlights emerging models of community-led media development, content creation, and meaningful connectivity.
