Three Main Challenges of Indonesia’s Digital Transformation

Indonesia’s digital transformation, a priority issue in the G20 for 2022, necessitates collaboration among stakeholders. The government established the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) to address challenges across three pillars: digital infrastructure, skills, and cross-border data flow. Civil society organizations – Common Room, ELSAM, and ICT Watch – propose a position paper with recommendations. These include fostering internet infrastructure, coordinating national digital literacy policies, and establishing comprehensive personal data protection. The paper reflects ongoing input and aims to ensure rights, equality, and gender perspective in Indonesia’s digital transformation.
